Aerobics exercise helpful for people suffering from obesity
A new study has found that aerobics exercise or zumba classes on a regular basis can help overweight and obese people lose weight.
In the study, published in the journal PLOS ONE, the scientists noted that a review of 10 studies indicated that people in the studies who attended aerobics exercise or zumba classes three times a week for four weeks observed a marked reduction in obesity.
According to the research, there were clear positive effects of such exercise in people under 45 years of age. At the same time, there were useful effects on size with downward trend.
In this review, researchers examined 646 people (114 men and 532 women) aged between 21 and 71 years of age. Of these, 321 participated in dance classes such as aerobics exercises, zumba or traditional dance, while other participants were part of the control group.
Each class lasted 40 to 90 minutes, three to five times a week.
Those in the control group maintained their normal lifestyle, which included physical activities such as walking and other types of exercise.
In the study, both groups were examined for eight to 12 weeks. While some people were kept under study for a year.
The results showed that people in the dance group lost an average of 1.92 kg of weight compared to the control group members.
