Population control is the cause of economic slowdown
Failure of population control theory has failed in the West is evidence of the complete failure of human wisdom against divine knowledge
A researcher Professor Dr Osama Shafiq in his article analyzed the negative implications of population control concept by British economist Thomas Robert Malthus theory across the world. Courtesy to Dr Osama Shafiq to publish here.
When British economist Thomas Robert Malthus presented his theory of meeting population and food needs in 1798, which the world calls the theory of population control, he probably did not even have the illusion that after just two hundred years, his theory of population control would fail not only in Britain but in the whole West in such a way that the development of the world would fail. The guarantee for the development will be linked to population growth. July 11 has been declared World Population Day by the United Nations and every year on this occasion, propaganda for population control is carried out around the world. The basis of this whole theory is actually the global capitalist system of the West and the modern development associated with it, in which the existence of God is not recognized in this world. Therefore, human became the only intellect, and by turning away from the divine revelation, man considered those things that came within the limited scope of his intellect as real knowledge. Resultantly, the world is suffering from a great disaster now. The way the theory of population control itself has failed in the West is actually evidence of the complete failure of human intelligence compared to the ultimate knowledge, i.e., divine knowledge or revelation.
After Malthus’s theory, the population control campaigns were launched all over the world. As per the theory, it would one day be impossible to meet the nutritional needs of man’s growing population because man forgot his Creator and took the responsibility of sustenance by himself, so this was the logical thing. For this reason, the idea also developed that countries with high populations would never be able to develop, nor would they be able to find a prominent place in the global economy. Under this whole ideology, for higher standards of living, advanced economic development and sophisticated facilities, the great movement to reduce birth control and poverty, which was launched all over the world in general and in the West in particular, is bringing its own time today.
For Pakistan:
In Pakistan too, the starting point of the case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former finance minister Miftah Ismail, who formed a new political group, is population control. It is surprising wonder why those in the highest positions and travelling all over the world are distorting basic facts and making their case on the basis of desired information. There are many drawbacks here in Pakistan, but is the rising population really the main reason for the failure of this entire state? How many states in the world have become failed states due to population growth? Will these thinkers be able to point out any such state?
The real problem is that the whole media is also doing nothing but portray the same propaganda that the world is suffering from rising population. The same goes for our thinkers. They don’t get enough time to check but to propagate the obsolete Western ideas. They are unable to tell the people living in Pakistan today that the population crisis, that the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia, which was considered a global superpower before 1992, is going through today and this crisis is getting worse day by day. If experts today are indicating that China, a partner in the global superpower competition, may not reach this position, then the main reason for this is not the increase in China’s population, but the decrease in China’s population growth rate. The economic crisis that Japan, Europe and the UK itself are facing is actually a crisis of decline in population. The theory that the world’s largest nations in terms of population will never reach the threshold of economic development failed so badly that today China is the second-largest economy with the world’s largest population, along with India, the country with the second-largest population, has now overtaken Britain to become the fifth largest economy in the world.
For Russia:
Now the reality of these claims needs to be seen in the light of a little data. Russia, which was the former Soviet Union, remained in the race for a global superpower, its population growth rate declined from 7.5 births per woman in 1920 to 1.4 children per woman in 1994. It should be noted that to maintain the proportion of the population in the world, it is considered necessary to give birth to 2.1 children per woman. The result of the abortion movement was that in Russia in 1992, 225 abortions were performed against the average of 100 births. From 1959 to 1990, the impact of the population control movement on Russia was that the population over the age of 60 increased from 16% of the total population in 1990 to 20% in 2015. And today, one in three people is between the ages of 60 and 75.
Today, Russia is deeply troubled by the reasons for negative population growth and it is having devastating effects on its economy and there will be more. Today, Russia’s economic growth is 0.5 percent. The main reason for this is the lack of working people and after more people reach the age of 60 years, it becomes a burden on the resources of the state. Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that for every woman who gives birth to 10 children and her tenth child reaches the age of one year, not only will the state give the woman the highest honour, but she will also be given one million rubles (Russian currency) as a reward. In addition, the state will also be responsible for the maintenance, education, health, and home of him and his children.
For China:
China, the world’s most populous country, is in the race for economic development with the United States today, experts around the world believe that it may not overtake the United States soon and come first. The main reason for this is the decline in the growth rate of China’s population. China also adopted a policy of population control for a long time, which had a policy of “one family one child”. After its negative effects, the state allowed two children and then many children, but it was no longer possible to change the way society had been built. So now China is also suffering from a negative population growth rate. And the news is that India is going to overtake China to become the world’s largest population this year and at the same time, it has also become the world’s fifth-largest economy.
The population control policy will pursue China for a long time and it is estimated that China’s population will decrease to one billion in the year 2080, while today China’s population is 1.4 billion, and China needs to maintain this population at least for further development. The logical result of population decline is an increase in the number of old people and a decrease in the number of young people worldwide. This means that if the people who participate in economic development and give income to the state are fewer and the elderly people, i.e. those who use the state resources, instead of increasing income, then no such state can ever make economic progress in the modern economic system.
Developed World:
Today, the situation is the same in many European countries including Japan, Australia, Iceland, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom itself, where the population control campaign has spread economic turmoil, the local people of these countries now run away from children and family system, and these countries call refugees from all over the world from time to time by giving attractive packages to achieve or maintain their economic development. They not only drive the wheel of their country’s economy but also lighten the burden of their local people in the form of state taxes.
If Malthus were alive today, he might not have been able to see that in his own country Britain, the child of a refugee, Rishi Sunak, is the Prime Minister and the other migrant woman, Suella Braverman, is the Home Minister, besides the Prime Minister of Scotland, Hamza Yusuf, the child of a refugee. Why did all this happen? The reasons can be many but the main reason for this is that the local people do not pay attention to increasing their population. Even today, Britain’s population growth rate is only 1.5 children per woman, which is less than the required rate, and even more so are migrants of Asian, Eastern European and African origin, with an average child per woman of 2.03, otherwise the growth rate of whites alone is less than the average rate of one child per woman. They need 2.1 children per woman to maintain their own population.
Conclusion:
The case on which the population control movements are being raised in Pakistan is the obsolete ideology of the world. Today, the most valuable thing in the world is human resources. It is embraced wholeheartedly over the world. The way India, despite its large population, has brought people all over the world to the position of heads of the highest institutions is a testimony to the failure of the population control movement. Malthus’ theory, because it was a theory of confrontation with the Creator, failed, and we are not ashamed to not only propagate these obsolete ideas to this day, but we as a nation have also failed to make the best use of our human resources.
Today, the science and technology of the world are also dependent on humans; there is an acute shortage of population and lacking the best human ability around the world. If we as a nation adopt a national policy of producing human resources and highly skilled people instead of propagating obsolete ideas, then there is no reason why Pakistan, which has the world’s ninth-highest birth rate, cannot make its place among the world’s ten largest economies. But it requires the proper use of human resources, which is the real task of the government.
Will the next Pakistani government be able to formulate a far-reaching policy in this regard? If this happens, Pakistan may be able to get a better place in the world, otherwise, these human resources will go abroad and play their role in the development of economies around the world and there will be darkness under the lamp.
